Beautifully designed in striking colors. Batik is a textile tradition which dates back to the early 19th Century in the Archipelago of Indonesia's 17,000 islands. Done with natural dyes from plants and roots, and with an intricate wax-resist process, batiks were primarily made by women.

This piece would surely have been worn to announce the wearer's status. It is in excellent unused condition.
